Biography

Raghuram Govind Rajan is an Indian economist and former central banker. He has been the Katherine Dusak Miller Distinguished Service Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business since 2016. He was previously with the university's economics department from 1991 to 2013. Rajan served as the Chief Economist of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from 2003 to 2006. He oversaw Indian monetary policy as the 23rd Governor of the Reserve Bank of India from 2013 to 2016. During this period, he was appointed Vice-Chairman of the Bank for International Settlements in 2015.
